Emily Niebrugge
Sports editor / The Volante
Journalism is a changing industry, and it couldn't be more exciting. I'm constantly asked whether or not I believe print editions will die out in my lifetime, and while I don't think they'll be completely gone any time soon, I can't help but embrace where journalism is turning.
As journalists, we now have the opportunity to reach a bigger audience than anyone ever thought possible. It would be silly not to embrace social media, online sites and alternative story formats such as photo galleries and videos.
Obtaining two degrees from the University of South Dakota, I feel prepared to contribute to the world in the field of communication and journalism. My internships and work at daily newspapers have prepared for a professional career, and I am excited to continue working in an industry that has just started unveiling the possibilities.
